The Allahabad Fort was situated on the bank of river Yamuna. It is a must visit place for the tourists in Allahabad. In 1583, Akbar the great Mughal ruler constructs this fort. The main tourist’s attraction spots in the fort are the design of fort, Saraswati kund, a tree of Akshayavat and temple of Patalpuri.

It is one of the biggest forts that were made by the Akbar. It is the biggest momentum that was built in the 16th century. He named it as Allahabad but later it changed to Allahabad fort. The design and architecture of the fort are amazing. The visitors are allowed at the time of Kumbh Mela. The visitors can only the little part of the fort as the biggest part is used by the Army of India.

The fort has large and big walls with having 3 high tower entrances. One of the most interesting things in the fort is the Pillar of Ashoka. In 232 BC, the king of Mauryan Ashoka earthed this pillar. It is 10 meters in height. There is also a Saraswati kund. It is said that this kund has the water of Saraswati River. One another interesting thing in the fort is the mahal of Jodhabai. It is one of the most attractive things in the fort. It has a beautiful architecture. The pattern of its design is the combination of both Hindu and Islamic. The fort also has an underground temple named as Patalpuri. It is said that is the way to heaven from the fort.

The fort also has the most famous tree named as the Akshayavat tree. There was a story behind this tree. When Lord Narayana shows his power by flooded the whole world. It was the only tree which remains above the level of the water at that time. It is the very old tree. It is also said that this tree was the rest point for Lord Rama and Sita. It is also said that Akbar also tried to burn this tree but remained unsuccessful.

The fort is situated near the Triveni Sangam, which is very close to the fort. The tourists can reach this place by booking taxi or cab from any place in the city. The nearest airport is just 14 km away from the fort. The nearest railway station is in the city.
