The River Yamuna is also famous with the name Jamuna. The River Yamuna is also popular as Yami. The father of the Goddess Yamuna is the Lord Surya and brother is the Yama, who is the god of death. It is one of the other longest rivers in India. It is also the second largest stream of river Ganga. The river only flows in India. It is 1,376 km in length. The river originates from the glacier of Yamunotri and flows in the several states of India including Uttarakhand, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The river gets joined another River Ganga at the Triveni Sangam. It has many other streams from which the biggest stream is the River Chambal. It is located at a height of 3,293 meters. There are many other places including Agra, Delhi, and many others.

There are many spots for visiting along the river. One of the most beautiful is the Yamunotri. It is a beautiful place with scenic beauty from all around. The tourists can also visit the temple of goddess Yamuna. Here a black marble is used as the statue of worship the goddess Yamuna.  Another famous place for visiting is the Triveni Sangam in Allahabad. It is the meeting point of the river Ganga, Yamuna, and Saraswati. The river also flows through the city Vrindavan and Mathura. The tourists can also visit these places. There are many temples as the land is the birthplace of Lord Shri Krishna. Many people also take a dip in the water of river Yamuna as Lord Krishna played in the water of this river. This city also has many temples to visit for the tourists.

The river also passes through the city Agra. This city has a number of Mughals sites to visit for the tourists. The tourists can visit Taj Mahal, Chinni ka Rauza, and many other sites. It is the beautiful river that makes many cities beautiful. It is also the main source of water for the various cities.
