RANJIT SAGAR DAL LAKE

The Ranjit sagar is a fresh crystal water lake of Basohli. It is one of the largest lakes in India.  This lake covers an area of 88 sq km. The lake starts from the Thein and ends at the Khajura village of Basohli. This lake is surrounded by the Shivalik hills range. This lake is divided naturally into various lakes of different length and shape. One of the deepest and pollution free lakes among these is the whole lake.

This lake is one of the major points for tourist’s attraction, as it is located at the entry of the Jammu. As this lake is divided into many other lakes, so the tourists with different taste and personality visit this lake in large proportion. The tourists can enjoy various activities here like skiing in water, racing with boats, yachting and many more.

The visitors can visit the thick forest of Shivalik hills with the help of sikharas. A large of people around the world get attract this place for its floating restaurants and houseboats. It is the best place to spend with families and friends. There are also a large number of festivals are celebrated on this place.  There is also a team of rescue for protection in case of flood or any other miss happening. It is also a good place for shooting the serials and films.

The lake’s longest strip is 22 km long. It is the best place for bird lovers and watcher. The bird sanctuary is there because of the water, food, and availability of thick forest. There is also a bridge over the river Ravi, named as Ranjit Sagar Dam. Many tourists visit this place only to see this. It is the best time to spend holidays as there are also beautiful valleys, waterfalls, monuments and many other amazing things. The best time to visit this place is from July to October. At this time the surroundings are green and the reservoir of the water full. The tourists can reach this place by booking rickshaws from the Pathankot.
