Uttarakhand is a northern state of India which is popular for its pilgrimage sites. Hindus consider it as the “Dev Bhoomi” which means “The Land of Gods”. Dehradun is the capital of this state. The languages that are spoken here are Garhwali, Hindi, Sanskrit, Kumaoni, etc. Many ethnic groups from Garhwal and Kumaon region makes up the majority of the state.

Kumbh Mela takes place in Haridwar which is one of the biggest religious gatherings in the world. Some festivals of this state are Ghee Sankranti, Phool Dei, Harela mela, Khatarua, etc. Langvir Nritya, Hurka Baul, Chholiya are the famous folk dances here.

This place is regarded as sacred and devotees from across the world come here to pray and to perform rituals. This state was earlier called as Uttaranchal. Yamuna and Ganga rivers flow through the state.

When we talk about tourism, this state attracts spiritual seekers from across the globe. Haridwar is another important pilgrimage site for Hindus. It is home to the Yoga capital of the world which is Rishikesh. The Beatles band came to Rishikesh in the 60s to learn about meditation and yoga since then this place has attracted tourists from many different countries.

Some of the major cities of Uttarakhand are Kedarnath, Rishikesh, Nainital, Ranikhet, Jim Corbett national park, etc. Nanda Devi in Chamoli district is the highest peak of this state.

Valley of flowers is a UNESCO world heritage site which contains rare plants, flowers, etc. Mussoorie, Almora, and Nainital are some of the famous hill stations which attract a lot of tourists. Get closer to your inner self and dwell into the spiritual journey in Uttarakhand.
