Babasaheb Ambedkar

Babasaheb Ambedkar is also famous as B.R. Ambedkar. He was a famous jurist, economist, and social reformer. He did a lot of things for the Indian people. He started the movement of Dalit Buddhist and he was against the social unfairness against the untouchables. He was the first law prime minister of India after independence. He also worked to provide a right to poor, woman and labors. He is also famous as the father of the Indian constitution.

He was born on 14 April 1891 in the military cantonment of Mhow. He was the son of Ramji Maloji Sakpal and Bhimabai Murbadkar Sakpal. He was born in a poor Dalit caste. He has to face isolation and untouchable problems in his childhood. His family worked for the British East India company. Due to his caste, he got only a little help and attention from his teachers. He was not permitted to even sit in the class. He faced many other problems in his childhood. At the age of 15, he got married to Ramabai. At the time of marriage, she was just 9 years old. He married again after the death of his first wife. He completed his degree from the Elphinstone College, the University of Mumbai in economics. He took the help of the scholarship and completed his masters from the Columbia University in economics.

He started his career as a legal professional in 1926 and defended 3 leaders. He also encourages and uplifts people by educating them about the untouchable. He thought to convert himself to the Sikhism religion. Later, he studied the Buddhist religion and their whole life. He also traveled to Shri Lanka to meet the Buddhist monk. He converted his religion into the Buddhism by organizing a formal public ceremony. He also played leading role in the reserve bank of India foundation. He also started the movement of Dalit Buddhist. His movement was joined by half million Dalit who converted their religion into the Neo-Buddhism. He also wrote a book Navayana and Dalit Buddhists “The Buddha and His Dhamma”.

On 6th December 1956, he passed away in New Delhi. At the time of death, he was just 65 years old and was suffering from the problem of diabetes. He was honored with highest civilian of India and got the Bharat Ratna Award.
